1/2 c. seedless raisins
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts
1 t. soda
1 egg, slightly beaten
1-3/4 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. allspice
pinch cloves
chocolate chips
Combine raisins and water. Bring to boil and remove from heat. Stir in shortening; cool; stir in sugar and egg. Add sifted dry ingredients; beat. Pour on greased cookie sheet and bake at 370° for 20 minutes. Frost with vanilla frosting, cut into bars.
