Picnic Cake

Soak 1 c. dates in 1 1/2 c. hot water, cool
Add:
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. vanilla
1 1/2 C. + 2 T. flour

Mix and pour into greased and floured pan  (9x13).
Sprinkle on top???
