Pig & Whistle Cake

(What a great name for a cake!)

Cake ingredients
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. half & half
2 large eggs
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1 t. vanilla

Topping ingredients
1 c. packed brown sugar
3 T. half & half
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine butter and half & half until butter is melted and mixture is warmed through. In a medium sized mixing bowl, beat eggs until light yellow. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add warmed butter/half & half mixture to sugar/eggs and beat until thoroughly combined. Add vanilla and mix again. In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients together and then add to wet ingredients; blend well. Pour batter into dish and bake for 30-35 minutes.

Set oven to broil.

For topping, mix all ingredients until thoroughly combined. Pour and spread onto hot cake and broil until bubbly and browned (a few minutes). Allow cake to cool so topping will set.
